  BALTIMORE (AP) On a day when the Baltimore Ravens played without Ray Rice and scored only one touchdown on offense, the defending Super Bowl champions were rescued by defense and special teams.

  Daryl Smith had a 37 yard interception return for a TD, Tandon Doss took a punt 82 yards for another score, and the Ravens smothered the Houston Texans high powered offense in a 30 9 victory Sunday.

  The following is a list of the quarterbacks who have thrown the most touchdown passes in a single NFL season. As you will see from this list, most of the quarterbacks on it still active. So this is a very fluid list. With the NFL being pass happy these days, this record could easily be broken this season, or in the near future.

  Most Touchdown Passes in a NFL Season by a Quarterback

  Tom Brady of the New England Patriots holds the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a season with 50. Brady threw 50 touchdown passes during the 2007 season, when he led the Patriots to a perfect 16 0 regular season record.

  The 50 touchdown passes obviously led the NFL in 2007, and Tom Brady also led the league that season in passing yards (4,806), and average passing yards per game (330.4).
