Beathard gets a taste of Big Ten competition.
1. Iowa's defense held Big Ten rushing leader Melvin Gordon to a season low 62 yards on Saturday, but that wasn't all the Wisconsin sophomore had to deal with at Kinnick Stadium.
The former Hawkeye commit heard early and often from fans seated in the area behind the Badgers' bench, heckled from start to finish.
"It was crazy,'' Gordon said. "I was getting upset, but we had to win the game, so you kind of had to tune it out a bit.''
Gordon told the Wisconsin State Journal that a couple of fans in particular seem to ride him unmercifully.
"We Teddy Bridgewater Kids Jersey got the win. It felt good to shut them up a little bit,'' Gordon said.

Beathard completed just 4 of 16 passes after replacing injured Jake Rudock at quarterback in the third quarter of Saturday's loss to Wisconsin, but Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz liked what he saw of Beathard's arm strength and the way he competed. did a fine job,'' Ferentz said. "It's a tough situation to go into. We're not in desperation mode, but it's a pretty uphill climb at that point and playing against an excellent defensive football team. It's a tough way to go. He's been practicing well, and I thought he did a good job out there, considering the circumstances.''
3. One word describes the cost of a ticket to Saturday's Iowa Purdue football game affordable.
On Stub Hub this morning, tickets for the game were priced as low $1.65. A sideline seat was being offered for $11 and if you insist on a 50 yard line view, you can find one 10 rows up for as little as $40.
4. Playing without starting linebacker Chris Borland, key defensive end contributor Tyler Dippel and losing top receiver Jared Abbrederis to a chest injury didn't impact the bottom line Saturday for Wisconsin.
The way the Badgers dealt with the adversity did not go unnoticed by coach Gary Andersen.
"One thing I'm going to remember about this team forever regardless of what happens from the rest of the season is that they're never fazed,'' Andersen said. "The next kids just go in whether it is on special teams, offense or defense. They seem so prepared. They're great in the moment.''
5. Outscored 100 7 in its last two games, Purdue hasn't taken a snap in the red zone since the fourth quarter of its Sept. 28 game against Northern Illinois.
That's a string of 181 straight plays that the Boilermakers have run outside the 20.
Meanwhile, Purdue opponents in that timespan have scored at least a field goal on each of their 23 trips into the red zone.
6. Wisconsin returned home with two trophies from its weekend visit to Iowa.

9. Former Hawkeye Brandon Wegher enjoyed his biggest game of the season for Morningside on Saturday.
Wegher rushed for 158 yards on 20 carries including a 10 yard touchdown run Black Men's Teddy Bridgewater Elite M Jersey in a 48 31 win over Concordia (Neb.). Wegher also had one reception for seven yards as the top rated NAIA team improved to 8 0 on the season.
