Chongqing Natural History Museum is a time-honored museum, whose predecessor is the Science Academy of West China that was founded by the patriotic businessman, Lu Zuofu in 1930 and the West Museum of China that was a cooperative formed by the Chinese West Academy and more than ten other famous institutions in 1943.
The Museum is located at the foot of Jinyun Mountain in Beibei, covering an area of 14.4 ha. with the floor area of 30,842-meter squares and the exhibition area of 16,252 meter squares. Located in Xiejiawan, Chongqing Jianchuan Museum is the first museum for air raid shelter clusters in China. There are now 51 air-raid shelters at the Chongqing Jianchuan Museum. Also, it is the former site of the Hanyang Arsenal founded by Zhang Zhidong during the Westernization Movement when it moved west to Chongqing. Meanwhile, it is the place of the First Arsenal of the National Government Ordnance Agency during the War of Resistance.
The museum is composed of eight halls and includes 24 air raid shelters. It contains eight themed halls, including History of the Weapon Development, the old site of the First Armory Factory (Hanyang Arsenal), the exhibition hall of the War of Resistance, Chongqing Story hall, Folk Culture hall, Chinese Xi-based (double happiness, usually used for the wedding) Culture hall, the Ticket Life hall

The Three Gorges Museum (Chongqing Museum) was founded in 1951 as Southwest Museum. It was renamed in June 1955 as Chongqing Museum, and again in September 2000 as China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing (Chongqing Museum) with the permission of the General Office of the State Council of China.
The collections of Chongqing Museum are initially inherited from the Southwest Museum, including the antique chinaware, paintings and calligraphy, Chinese zithers (a traditional Chinese instrument), and Chinese inks which were preserved in Chongqing during the Anti-Japanese War. Gradually they have been expanded to cover several categories, including palaeoanthropological specimens, bronze wares from the Ba and Shu states period, cultural relics of the Three Gorges area, of the Han dynasty (stone carvings, stone Que, pictorial bricks, etc.)
