Offset printing is a popular print widely used by the printing press. In this printing, an inked image is converted from a metal plate on a rotating cylinder to a second cylinder that is transformed into a rubber blanket. After that, the picture is moved from the blanket to the printing surface. In other words, offset printing blankets are synthetic rubber mats used throughout offset lithography to "offset"—or transfer—an image from a metal plate to paper or another substrate.
