In a press release, the BCCI finalized the suspension of the IPL 2020 and said that it's a necessary action to help contain the virus.

‘The BCCI is concerned and sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that all people related to IPL including fans have a safe cricketing experience’.

The BCCI said that they are working with the Indian Government to address the pandemic situation in the country.

‘The BCCI will work closely with the government of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other relevant Central and State Government departments in this regard,’ they added.

Cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane shared their sentiments on social media and advised the public to follow the protocols to lessen the spread of the disease.
