Lets take you through a mix of bustling cities, quaint towns, and beautiful trekking trails in the Himalayas. Here's the step-by-step breakdown on how one should plan the Hemkund Sahib Yatra:
Delhi to Haridwar: Drive from any one of the suburbs of Delhi towards Haridwar, which is situated about 230 km away.
Haridwar to Pipalkoti : The road runs along the bank of the Ganges River and passes by beautiful views of the Himalayan foothills. Pipalkoti acts as a little town and serves for rest to the pilgrims en route either to Badrinath or Hemkund Sahib.
Pipalkoti to Govindghat : Govindghat is a small village that starts the trek to Ghangaria, which in turn again takes us to Hemkund Sahib. It is located at the confluence of Alaknanda River with Lakshman Ganga River.
Govindghat to Ghangaria: This acts as the base camp to the trekkers going towards Hemkund Sahib and the valley of flowers. The path is amidst a lot of trees, waterfalls, and running streams.
Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib: Very sacred Sikh Gurudwara surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks, offering mind-blowing views all around, lies at an altitude of 4,632 meters. Not very far from the Gurudwara lies a glacial lake, which makes the entire scene even more peaceful.
Govindghat to Ghangaria: From Govindghat, it is a 13 km trek to Ghangaria. This forms the base camp for trekkers bound towards Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers. It is an undulating trek with green forests having waterfalls and streams.
Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib: This is a famous Gurudwara of the Sikhs. It is located at an altitude of 4,632 meters, surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks. This Gurudwara has got magnificent views all around, with a glacial lake near Gurudwara that adds charm to its serene climate.
Ghangaria to Govindghat: This is the return journey through this beautiful trail.
Govindghat to Rishikesh: It is the Yoga capital of the world. You can have a view of the famous Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula, and be a part of its spiritual atmosphere.
Rishikesh to Delhi: The last day of your trip brings you back to the hustles and bustles of the capital city of India.
