The encouragement can be as simple as saying “thank you “ Parents know that when they recognize something really good that the child has done, the response from the child is usually very positive. This helps build self-confidence and even pride in what they can achieve. Leaders achieve similar results with the team members when they recognize the individual efforts. When the recognition is meaningful and genuine, the team member who receives this knows that their leader will recognize the extra effort that’s put in, and he, or she is then motivated to perform even better. When leaders recognize publicly the performance of their team members, all other team members, then know that they are in an environment where they also will be recognized When they perform well. The recognition can be as simple identifying that person directly when they have achieved something that’s beyond normal expectations. the leader has a conversation with them, even briefly, about what they achieved. The recognition can be in a team meeting, it can be an email, it can be a simple expression of the words “well done “. When leaders show that they care and recognize good performance, individuals want to perform even better. It’s a simple as that. The recognition should always be direct from the leader to the individual - expressing this is personal and can’t delegated. Leaders can develop this habit by recognizing others who they come in contact with. This could be the security guard in the building, someone from another department, it could even be the check-out operator or someone delivering customer service who you believe has ‘gone above expectations’. Meaningful and genuine encouragement has a positive impact on the person you deliver it to. Do it often - and see the results. #Encouragement #Motivation #Recognition #AboveAndBeyond #TouchingTheHeart#leadership #leadershipdevelopment #leader #inspiration #culture #motivation #coaching
