I was slightly saddened by the lack of Bayonetta 2 mentions during the last Hot Topic, it was especially surprising considering the game was voted second in the GC readership’s best games of 2014 (to my shock and delight)! Anyway, keep up the work GC!
Thanks Chuck, that’s a sound idea and it applies to cheap runescape gold all things. Watching adverts for smart 50″ TVs on your 24″ HDTV for a little bit longer so that you can buy that smart 50″ monster for nowt much in the not too distant future. Watching the election debates on mute with no oratory guff so you can see which candidate’s body language appears the most like that of normal human being who believes what they say.
Now I can’t admit to always following the above words of Mr D, I’ve bought a couple of pre-ordered games in the past at maximum price with the promise of the complete day one experience. Maybe it was the steelbook, maybe it was the DLC code, maybe….. maybe it was …. the hype.
That day one experience is usually available to all by day two, and by week four you could probably get the game half price with no loss of advantage over buying it day one. When having played the multitude of games I didn’t purchase at zero hour I can’t remember kneeling in the rain, joypad in outstretched arms wailing at the heavens to ‘Gimme another chance, I can’t progress without the Standard Shotgun X-1 with shiny weapon skin and Predator’s testicles reticule. Just let me have those five minutes to find them in the exclusive DLC map I so foolishly denied myself.’
For a multitude of reasons some developers need our money more than others. Second-hand resale, online deals, idiotic release schedules that coincide with retailer Christmas discounts and clash with other big name releases, a lot of gamers want only the newest shiniest graphics which makes games redundant quicker than say music or films. And finally, greed.
It’s all very well reminiscing about old games you used to enjoy, but which of them are good enough that you still play them now? Which retro games (anything from the PlayStation 2 era and earlier) do you still regularly play today and which do you feel have held up the best?
What is it about the game that makes it so timeless and how have the graphics held up? www.rsfarmer.com Are there any retro games you’ve gone back to which you used to love at the time, but which have suffered from the passage of time? And if so, what do they get wrong that others get right?
