LHISD Dress Code
Every student is expected to follow the LHISD Dress Code everyday. This year the school board made a few updates to the policy.
Here are some highlights of the dress code:
#5 -Students’ faces must not have any facial hair.
#6 - Piercings are allowed in the ears, but gauges are prohibited. A small nostril stud piercing is allowed but bridge and septum piercings are prohibited. All other facial piercings are prohibited.
This means that hoop nose rings are prohibited
#8 - Tops must meet the beltline and should not expose the midriff at any time.
If students are out of dress code, Administration will ask the student to change. Change of clothes will be available in the front office. If dress code violations persists, students will be assigned additional consequences.

Proposed Book Purchases on Library Services Website
We will be uploading the most recent proposed book purchases for elementary, middle and high school to our Library Services website on January 16, 2024. These books will be posted for 10 school days and if you would like to provide feedback or input on any of the books listed, we invite you to complete the Feedback Form that can be found on the website. After the books have been posted for 10 days, a committee, including campus and district staff, will review the comments to determine approval for purchasing.

The voter registration deadline for the March 5, 2024 Texas Primary Election is February 5, 2024.
Who Can Register
- Students that are 17 years, 10 months of age may register, and can vote in the March 5, 2024 Primary Election if they will be 18 years of age on Election Day.

- Students can use this enclosed order form to request blank specially-coded applications from our office, free of charge.
- Coded applications may also be ordered online, free of charge.

2024 - 2025 Academic Calendar
The Board of Trustees, in a unanimous decision during their regular meeting on January 22, 2024, proudly approved the 2024-25 Academic Calendar. This comprehensive calendar reflects the culmination of an extensive process involving the careful consideration of over 2100 survey submissions from families and staff
Key Features of the 2024-25 Academic Calendar:
Increased Staff Development Days: More staff development days have been integrated into the calendar, promoting ongoing professional growth and team planning for faculty to deliver the highest quality of education.
Important Dates: Notable dates include New Teacher Orientation (Aug. 1-2, 2024), Back-to-School Staff Development (Aug. 5-13, 2024), and the All Staff Summer Learning Conference (May 27-28, 2025).
Strategic Breaks: Aligned with Austin Community College and the University of Texas, the calendar includes a full week off for Thanksgiving, a two-week winter break, and a week-long spring break.
Flexibility for Families: Several 4-day weeks throughout the year enable families to schedule dental and doctor appointments and enjoy breaks without disrupting school hours.
Early Release Dates: Two early release dates have been added for all grade levels on Dec. 19, 2024, and May 22, 2025.
Liberty Hill ISD expresses gratitude for the active participation and valuable feedback from the community, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative decision-making. The district looks forward to a successful and fulfilling 2024-25 academic year.

Come dance with the Liberty Belles and Liberty Stars Dance Teams for a day of fun with Little Belles!! Our dancers are so excited to spend the day with your Little Belle dancer as they play games, make friends and learn dances together!
Participants of Little Belles will be invited to perform with the Belles & Stars at one (1) Spring Show Performance on the following dates:
Friday, April 19, 2024: Ages 8 to 14 will perform
Saturday, April 20, 2024: Ages 4 to 7 will perform
Cost for Little Belles is $50.00 per dancer.
Camp cost will include a (1) wrist band for performers entrance to Spring Show, Motts fruit snack & water.
**Registrations paid by March 15th will include a Camp T-Shirt.**

January Teacher Champion of the Month
Congratulations to Katy Janecka for being named the Liberty Hill High School Teacher Champion of the Month!
LHHS Applied Engineering Competition
Great job by one of our Agriculture Teacher Mr. Wood and our students. We hosted our 1st Ag Applied Engineering competition today and had over 15 schools come compete! Students competed in welding, torch, cutting, and other various skills learned in class.
Girl's Swim and Dive Coach of the Year
This week at Liberty Hill’s District swim meet, our Swimming and Diving Coach, Dimitra Becker, was named the Girl’s Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year!
Coach Becker is an amazing advocate for her swimmers and works hard to ensure they are prepared mentally and physically for every meet.
Her athletes become amazing people in the and out of the pool.

Community Mentors
This week in the Entrepreneur classes, our assigned industry mentors are beginning to work with the student groups.
Mentors were invited to the elevator pitch presentations created by each group. After discussions with the students and initial assessments, Mr. Schiff assigned the mentors to each group based on where he felt they could benefit the most.
The mentors are the keys to successful presentations on Final Pitch Night later this year.

Attendance / Make Up Hours & Saturday School
Make-up Hours due to Attendance - Appeal Form
If you received a notification that you have make-up hours, you will need to complete these prior to the end of the semester. Failure to do so will result in credit denial for the course.You may be required to repeat the course if hours are not completed.
You can make up hours through tutorials, saturday school, or volunteerning. Please not that volunteering can only account for half your make up hours.
Make sure you log your hours as you complete them, and turn the completed log into the attendance office. Make-up hour logs can be found in the counseling office. You may check your specific hours owed on our bulletin board, at the attendance office, or with your Assistant Principal.
If you wish to appeal the decision regarding your make-up hours, please complete the appeal form. Our attendance committee will review submissions and determine if your appeal is accepted or denied, and that decision will be communicated with you. Please see your Assistant Principal if you have questions.
Saturday School
Doors open at 8:00 and close at 8:05, so please arrive no later than 8:05. Saturday school is a great opportunity to get assignments done, catch up on classes and credits, and make up hours owed for attendance. If you have any questions, reach out to your Assistant Principal.

Attendance is the key to success!
Regular and punctual attendance is the greatest single factor in school success. Texas Compulsory Attendance Law requires students to attend school 90% of the days class is offered, unless otherwise exempted by law.
It is the responsibility of the parent and student to cooperate and communicate with the school on all attendance matters.

Student Notes
All notes from parents/guardians should include the following: Full legal name of student - no nicknames please, student's ID number, date(s) of absence, reason for absence, parent's signature, and current date.
Students please review your attendance record weekly. All notes are due to the attendance office two days after the absence. The 1st six weeks ends on September 22nd and notes for the 1st six weeks will not be accepted after September 27. If you have been marked absent by mistake, please have your teacher email the attendance office.
Pick-Up, Parking & Transportation Information
The Band Practice Pad is Now Open for Parking
The Band Pad is now open as General Parking for ALL Students who have purchased a parking pass. The spots are first come, first serve.
We are now out of parking spots in the front and back parking lots. The only available parking now is in the tennis courts. If you are parking incorrectly, your vehicle is subject to tow.
Please see Ms. Kari at the front desk if someone is parking in your spot.
Bus Information
Bus drop off and pick up will be in the back of the school outside the cafeteria. Please make sure students have their SMART Tags when getting on and off a bus.
Student Drop-off and Pick Up
Here are some friendly reminders about student drop-off and pick-up that will relieve traffic in the morning and afternoon:
1) Please pull up all the way before having your student enter or exit your vehicle. Refrain from letting them out early.
2) Please encourage students to cross roads at stop signs and cross walks.
3) Only drop students off at the designated locations. Please do not drop students off behind the school or in the staff parking area.
4) After picking up or dropping off a student please pull out of line and use the left lane to leave the parking lot.
5) If you are picking up a student after school you must use the car rider line. The staff and student parking lots are not authorized pick up areas

Please note: The campus doors open at 8:00 am and close at 4:20 pm Monday through Friday.

PALS
Do you work well with others? Do you have a heart to help others? Every thought about mentoring someone? You might make a great PAL. Pick up an enrollment form from Mr. Brown in room 1128.The form will need to be returned by March 8th.
Be an Athletic Trainer
Do you have a passion for Liberty Hill athletics? Do you want to be involved in keeping our student-athletes healthy? Do you want to learn more about the field of athletic training? If so, apply to be an athletic training student aide by visiting the athletic training website, scan a flier posted around the school, or stop by our AT clinics before or after school in the dance hallway or in the main field house to speak with Ms. Ramirez or Dr. Barringer.
Applications are due by Friday, 2/2, and interviews will be held in the following two weeks. Current AT student aides are also required to re-apply.
UIL Essay Writing Competition
If you are a good writer and researcher, here is the perfect opportunity to show off your skills and add to your college resume! Sign up to compete in the UIL Essay Writing Competition. The deadline to submit is February 14th, so act fast. Please reach out to Miss Pulliam via email or come by room 2105 for more information and resources.
UIL Accounting and Computer Applications
Are you interested in learning something new? Wonderful! We have a perfect opportunity for you to learn something new and add to your high school resume. Come to room 1126 on Tuesday’s at 8:00am, for free donuts and learn a little bit about UIL Accounting and Computer applications.

Do you love words, reading, and competing? Come join the UIL Spelling or Literary team and find your people! Stop by the library and speak with Ms. Claymon if you're interested in joining.
DECA
DECA is an organization for high school and college students interested in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, business management, or hospitality and tourism. This international association prepares students to be business leaders who are community-oriented and professionally responsible. There are 52 opportunities for competition and scholarships for students who earn success in these events.
DECA has two monthly meetings, but students only need to attend one. We meet in the library at 4:30 PM on the first Thursday of the month and at 8 AM on the first Friday of the month. See Mrs. Tedder in Room 1223 if you have questions.
Panther CSI
Panther CSI meets Thursday after school in Mr. Arnold's room, room 2208. We train and compete in CSI, Forensic Sciences, Law and Legal Studies, and Emergency Response (Fire, EMS, Crisis Intervention).
UIL Computer Science Team
The UIL Computer Science team participates in competitions that challenge students to apply programming concepts and skills, as well as their knowledge of the Java programming language. The team meets the first 3 Wednesdays of each month after school in room 2217
Tabletop Roleplaying Game Club
The Tabletop Roleplaying Game Club meets Mondays after school in room 2217. Students in the club are able to explore the imaginative as they join together in groups to learn about collaborative storytelling, strategic thinking, and social contracts. The club has several game systems and settings available, including Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer.
Girls who Code Club
Girls who Code is a national organization with the goal of increasing the number of underrepresented demographics in STEM careers. Our local chapter learns about career opportunities, learns and practices programming together, and participates in girl-focused computer science events and competitions.

JV started the season with a 6-1 win!

Liberty Hill High School hosted their first wrestling meet!
The team ultimately fell short against Glenn, but we are proud of the way our Panthers worked tonight .

Our JV boys’ season came to an end today with the wrestling of the district tournament! We took 4th place as a team, and Richard Downing won the district championship for his weight class! Way to go, boys!

Baseball Store Now Open!
Liberty Hill Baseball Booster Club has the fan gear store is now open! The store closes on January 30th in order for the gear to be here for pick up February 13th.
Fishing Team
The Liberty Hill Fishing Team is a non-profit organization. With the support of volunteers and local businesses, the LHFT helps promote the sport of bass fishing and gets youth anglers on the water. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at LHHS at 6:00pm.
