Opiates are one of the most common drugs that involve prescription and illegitimate drugs at the same time. Opioids are highly addictive and can intoxicate a person very easily. They also include pain relievers such as opium, morphine, codeine, oxycodone, fentanyl, etc. One should start getting opiate addiction treatment while he/she still has the time. It can affect anyone’s health just within a short time. Opiate treatment is very effective at some measures.   Opiates are known as pain relievers from the body but rather it alters the way a body can sense pain. Opiates attach to the opioid receptors in the brain. Therefore, the body gets the illusion that the drug has removed the pain. Once the patient gets addicted to opiate it'll take a long process of medications to take them back to normal. For medications, buprenorphine, and methadone along with naltrexone a combination of suboxone gives the most efficacious solutions. These medicines are considered as essential medicines for opiate addiction.   Like any other disease, drug addiction can also be managed. For opiate addicted individuals, the goal of treatment is to make people productive towards their work and family. The drug abusers who get into treatment ameliorate in their social, personal, and psychological functioning. If they stay with treatment, their health gets better time after time. As it's an extended procedure so, it definitely will take a longer period to make someone whole again.   The effectiveness of opiate addiction treatment highly depends on the nature of a patient’s problem. The mental issues that are stimulating the need for using opiates must be solved with behavioral counseling. Therapies help drug abusers to cooperate with their mental status and decrease the urge of using drugs as a solution.   Drug addiction like opiates is indeed harmful to any individual. Yes, the treatment might turn out effective but it’s up to the person himself to give up using drugs because drugs won’t bring him any good.

Limit Alcohol Consumption When negative things are going on in the world, many of us choose to drink more. This should not be the case. To help improve your mood and to feel better about yourself in the long term, you should try to limit your alcohol consumption. Reducing the amount of alcohol that you put into your body can leave your feeling like a new person. If you want to reduce your risk for developing diseases and want to save a little, or a lot, of money, you can try to limit your alcohol consumption. You can find new and healthy ways to pass the time. Take Up a New Hobby If you are looking for a new way to pass the time and keep your mind and body healthy and active, you should try taking up a new hobby. Try finding something that interests you and can hold your attention for a long period of time. If you are one of those who are emotionally affected by the pandemic, remember that you’re not alone and you’re not powerless. One thing we know about coronavirus is that it’s very contagious, and a big part of the population is vulnerable.  Still, there is good news for you out there. These tips will help you understand better the situation and get through this challenging and stressful time. Understand Your Fear and Anxiety Unfortunately, we’re living in difficult times, where a worldwide pandemic closed cities and even entire countries. You may have family members on other parts of the country, or you may live in an area that has already been affected by the virus; while others are still hoping. Everyone is wondering “What’s next?”. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, there’s no way of guessing what happens next. Billions of people isolated themselves in their houses because of the number of cases of coronavirus. And it keeps growing, with Europe being by far the most affected region, reaching high mortality peaks. To prevent the spread of the infectious disease, restrictions have been put in place, and people have been asked to stay at home and practice social distancing.  For most people, the surrounding insecurity coronavirus is hard to handle because no one knows how bad things might get. And this is the moment when most people get emotional and too easy to fall into devastating panic and stress. Understanding what is going on and what you’re going through is the first step into getting better. Fear and anxiety are pretty much normal feelings through these tough times. If it makes you feel any better, avoid media entirely, and ask someone close to you to pass only major updates you need to know.  Stop Worrying Too Much Everyone is experiencing a massive change in their lives. There are so many things outside of control, including how everything is going to change, how people are going to react after the pandemic, how long the pandemic lasts, and what’s going to happen in our zones. For sure, that’s hard to accept, and most people are searching through the internet to find answers and create different scenarios in their heads. Focusing on what you can’t control can only get you nowhere. Aside from feeling worried, anxious, and stressed. If you find yourself completely caught up in a situation where you always ask yourself “What might happen?”, try instead to focus on the things you can control. For example, you can’t control how bad the coronavirus will affect your city, but you can manage and reduce your risk. Here is some essential advice you need to follow to keep yourself and others safe: Wash your hands as much as possible by using hand soap or a hand sanitizer that contains at least 70% alcohol.   Avoid touching your nose, mouth, and eyes with dirty hands. Practice social distance for as much as you can and go out only in emergencies. Avoid crowded areas. During grocery shopping, avoid contact with others. Keep 6 feet of distance between you and other people. Help support your immune system by getting plenty of sleep, eat healthily, and exercise every day. Follow all the recommendations received from health authorities.   If you still feel helpless and anxious, try to find a better alternative to maintain your mental and physical health. It’s vital to practice social distancing even with the ones you most care about. Apparently healthy people don’t have symptoms but can still be virus carriers. That’s why the most important thing to do right now is to maintain social distancing.  But social isolation can come with feelings of loneliness, anxiety, depression, and can impact your physical health. That’s why it’s essential to stay connected with close friends and ask for support when needed. Take Care of Your Body and Inner self This is the essential step in keeping yourself positive and healthy. Taking care of your body and spirit can help you face this unique situation caused by the coronavirus. Don’t go rough on yourself because you’ll generate more anxiety and stress than usual. Remember that you’re not alone in your struggle. Keep a healthy routine by getting regular sleep, have daily meals, or work schedule. Also, make sure you take time and do activities you enjoy. Reading books, cooking, exercising, playing video games. All of these will help you avoid stress and fear. With the right care and intentions, you can remain positive, and don’t forget to protect yourself and others, by changing the way you think. Don’t panic and follow the advice regarding public health and safety.

In the current era, we use batteries almost every day. Our daily life starts with a battery device. In the age of mobile devices, more and fewer batteries are used everywhere.        The items we use in our daily life, like mobile, camera, portable computer, cordless tools, toys, vehicles, clocks and watches, etc. These devices are battery-operated. Battery usage is immense in this modern age. There are two types of batteries we use every day.     Rechargeable battery and disposable battery   The rechargeable battery is a type of electric battery that can be charged and used multiple times by charging. It is composed of multiple cells. Solar Power And UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is the best example of a rechargeable battery.  The rechargeable battery is also used in vehicles. On the other hand, the disposable battery is just the opposite of the rechargeable battery. It is an electric battery made by an irreversible chemical reaction. It can't be recharged. It has to be used once and discard. It can’t be used a second time.  This battery is called a primary cell too, a galvanic cell is a disposable battery, and the best example of disposable batteries is M5070A battery. Cameras also use a disposable battery, and the household items are usually used by a disposable battery. Now we can describe the advantages and disadvantages of the batteries.   Rechargeable battery facility is here below:   It can be used multiple times. Dependent on technology. It's environmentally friendly. A battery contains less toxic.   The disadvantage of this battery is that it's very expensive. Otherwise, this battery is very useful. On the other hand, Disposable batteries can't be used more than once, but it lasts a long time, the m5070a battery is a long-life battery that will typically last for four years. That is a good side of the disposable battery. Pencil batteries are also disposed of that we regularly use in various toys. It's less expensive than a rechargeable battery. But the rechargeable battery is more useful for us.   All over, we can say the battery is an important thing that we use regularly. So the artillery should be environmentally friendly. Because It's not okay to use anything that harms the environment.

From the story of the famous Disney character Sleeping Beauty to every person we know who insists on taking their afternoon nap for aesthetic purposes, it seems that beauty and sleep are often correlated. Now, we have no clue whether Sleeping Beauty is described by Disney as a beautiful girl because she was asleep for a very long, long time. But we do know that sleeping can actually have a major impact on the way you look. Or at least, that’s what studies suggest. For a very long time, before the ‘50s, specialists believed that sleeping was a passive activity that made our brain and body inoperative. However, later, they have come to the conclusion that sleep is actually a period during which the human brain engages in several activities necessary to life. Activities that keep our minds and bodies healthy. Yet, it seems that sleep is no longer good only for your body and your brain but for your appearance too. If you think that sleep is a negative time in your day, let us tell you that your brain and several other systems in your body have a quite different opinion about this one. Sleep deprivation makes you uglier, study shows Recent findings suggest that people who miss out on sleep tend to appear less attractive to others. In fact, the study claims that only a few sleepless nights are enough to affect your appearance pretty significantly. The researchers asked 25 university students, both male and female, to take part in their experiment to see whether or not sleep can affect one’s appearance. And, after taking a good night’s sleep for two consecutive nights, the students had to restrict their sleep to only four hours a night for the next two nights. The effects were recorded with make-up free photographs of the students both after the nights when they were asked to sleep well and after the two, mostly, sleepless nights. But what were the results of the experiment? After the experiment, the researchers requested 122 strangers they found on the streets of Sweden’s capital city, Stockholm, to take a look at the photos and rate the attractiveness, health, sleepiness, and trustworthiness of the people in the pictures. Unsurprisingly, the strangers were able to determine if the subjects were looking tired or sleepy, and also pointed out that their attractiveness has suffered. Moreover, the 122 strangers also told researchers that they were less likely to socialize with those students who looked tired, associating them with being less healthy as well. At the end of the experiment, researchers concluded that sleep deprivation does make you look less attractive to the people around you. Furthermore, they also suggested that other’s negative perceptions of a tired person might be driven by a disease-avoiding mechanism. Simply put, people don’t want to hang out with people who might be ill. On the other hand, those who get a good night’s sleep and look energetic and fit tend to get a higher score of attractiveness. Beauty sleep is not a myth Now, you may be thinking that the results of the experiment might not be 100% accurate as there are many relative aspects, including the objectivity of beauty. However, let us strengthen this idea with some medical facts. There are a lot of things going on inside your body and brain as you are floating off to Dreamland. From your immune system increasing the production of certain proteins that fight disease to the production of growth hormone which helps grow and maintain muscles and tissues, your body becomes a rollercoaster of processes and actions. Now, what is the medical explanation of the “beauty sleep”? Well, it all starts right from the moment when you get in bed preparing to get some sleep. At that certain point, your body starts to cool down, nearly half of degree. And, to affect your body’s temperature, the circulatory system starts to increase blood flow to the skin. Once you fall asleep, typically during stages 3 and 4 of your sleep, as mentioned above, your body starts to experience a surge in growth hormone. How is that connected to becoming more beautiful overnight? The growth hormone is generally responsible for regenerating body tissues like muscle and bone. However, growth hormone also plays a big part in maintaining the collagen matrix. Hence, it plays a major role in lessening the severity of wrinkles in the face and neck, at least temporarily, and keeping the appearance of youthfulness. To test this theory, researchers analyzed what happens to the appearance of rats when deprived of sleep. The result? One of the first physical consequences that could be noticed was lesions on the skin. Therefore, this indicates that good sleep in important to the integrity of the skin. Now, the skin is the largest human organ of the integumentary system of a body. Yes, organ! And, this organ is made of 7 layers. Yet, the first layer of the skin is mostly made of closely packed dead cells that are constantly removed during the day. Thus, although it has been proved that skin cells regenerate faster at night than they do during the day, a personalized skincare routine before going to bed still remains paramount for that youthfulness appearance. Stress, sleep, skin Sleep deprivation and stress are interconnected because they can have a major influence on one another. Simply put, you may not be able to sleep because you are dealing with high levels of stress or you may be feeling stressed because you are deprived of sleep. Either way, there’s not going to be any good result from each of these scenarios. But what does this have to do with your skin? Stress can have multiple effects on the integrity of your skin. It can cause diseases such as alopecia areata, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. And, as you might imagine, they can all affect your appearance. As for sleep deprivation, you may already know the short-term and long-term consequences including swollen, sunken eyes, dark circles, and generally pale and dehydrated skin. These studies are good reminders of how important sleep is to us. A good night’s sleep is paramount for mental and physical health and for our youthfulness looks.

Getting a wrong posture can occur due to some of your common work habits that actually mistake. If you can avoid such habits, you can have a better posture. Also, a wrong posture can bring a lot of complications to our bodies, such as back pain, back injuries, and other acute syndromes. So, this article is going to talk about the work habits that can ruin your posture and the ways to fix it.                       Wrong Sitting Position: The sitting position may impact a lot on your overall posture. When you sit all day at your office desk, when you drive, and even when you sit in your living room, these regular sitting positions may not be right at all. If you slouch to one side, it can increase tension on that side of your body. This gradually increases the potential back pain you can hardly cure. Also, your muscle strength can impact on your sitting position. Therefore, you need to make the right sitting position, which is straight to the curve of your back. Make an exercise routine to stretch and improve your position.   Leaning on Computer Screens and Mobile Devices: Nowadays, people are addicted to devices. Computers and mobile phones are their regular way of living lives. They do not even care about which position they are sitting or looking down while working on the computer or mobile devices. To avoid this wrong position of sitting, you can use a desk making sure the keyboard and the screen are positioned with the same alignment as you sit. Avoid bending down to the screens to get good posture development.   Lifting Things: Sometimes, when you lift things or any object, it can lead you to experience the wrong posture, as well. Lifting things bending your back curves can increase the risk of back injuries. To fix such complications, you have to lift something bending on your knees that do not let your back pressured.   Sitting All Day: Sitting the entire day on your working desk or house can also ruin your posture. Try to do regular activities or exercises to avoid back or neck pain. You can try to do posture braces work in 2020, as well, to reduce back pain.

Orthopaedic is the sector of medical science that deals with skeletal deformities. Skeletal deformities include disorders of the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and skin. Any such deformities can cause extreme suffering and we should try our best to avoid them. The physicians who specialize in this field are called orthopaedic surgeons or orthopaedists. Orthopaedic London suggests tips to keep your bones, joints, etc healthier and avoid deformities. For better health of any body part, we require a proper diet. To promote bone health there are two key nutrients that your body requires: calcium and vitamin D. Calcium builds up our bones while vitamin D is needed to allow our bones to absorb calcium. Calcium is highly present in dairy products as well as vegetables like broccoli, kale, and beans. Vitamin D is available in the liver, fatty fish, eggs, etc. and also from sunlight. For optimum bone health is it important to accompany your healthy diet with exercises such as walking, jogging, and aerobics, yoga and pilates. Cut off tobacco intake. Stay away from smoking and consuming alcohol. They prevent calcium absorption of bones. These tips apply for joints and spines too. However, a pro tip to maintain healthy bones, joints or spines is to maintain a healthy weight. Check your BMI from a doctor or online based on your gender and height and try to keep your weight within the appropriate range. What are the strategies to maintain healthy ligaments and tendons? Our ligaments and tendons are made up of collagen, an elastic substance. According to Orthopaedic London food that is filled with zinc, vitamin C, and chlorophyll stimulate a naturally occurring protein in our body called collagenase that enables our cells to form collagen. Hence, we should take in greens such as spinach and sprouts regularly and fruits such as strawberries. We can also add vitamin C supplements to our diet as an added source. Another advice from doctors is to sleep more. Sleep keeps all our body processes in equilibrium promoting better overall health. We should always be cautious with our movements and activities to avoid orthopaedic issues. Simple negligence can cost a lot of hassle and pain.

In today’s modern society back problems have become a constant companion for most of us. Even if you don’t suffer from back pain, you must surely know at least one person who complains about this annoying issue or you might be at risk of becoming one of those persons yourself. In our everyday rush from here to there, overwhelmed by the thought of being on top of everything all the time, we forget what is truly important – taking care of ourselves. Getting lost in the hectic rhythm of the modern world and adopting an unhealthy lifestyle forgive no one. Chronic pain can have a huge impact on how we live and it can change the way we experience everything. Having to fight back problems can seriously diminish the quality of our lives and it can also affect the people around us. Many people struggle to find a cause for their back problems when the answer might be quite simple. The most common cause of back pain is the prolonged time spent sitting on a chair. Of course, when working in an office this is inevitable, but there are right and wrong postures that can make the whole difference.  Common mistakes Working in an office involves sitting in front of a computer for hours. Through our daily routine we cause damage to our body without even realizing it. We might think we are doing everything right, but there are things that go unnoticed and in time they lead to unwanted health issues. There are a few mistakes that most of us are guilty of. Leaning forward while using the computer – most people have a tendency to lean forward while they are focused on working at their computers. It’s a natural tendency that happens unconsciously and can cause a reduction in lung capacity. Since not enough oxygen reaches your body you will experience shallow breathing as a result. Upright siting posture – although we’ve been told since childhood that this is the correct position when siting at a desk, apparently it’s not. Researchers have discovered that sitting upright at a 90 degree angle for a long time puts too much pressure on your spine. Leaning a bit backwards, at 135 degrees, seems to be the ideal position. Holding the phone to your ear with your shoulder – we’ve probably all done this when multitasking. Holding your phone with your shoulder might not seem like a big deal, but when you repeat the action several times throughout the day, your neck and upper back muscles will suffer.  Sitting for too long – yes, you need to sit at your desk when you work, but nobody is stopping you to get up and move a little from time to time. The body needs movement, we’re not build to be sedentary, so sitting for too long is going to affect your overall health. Tips to help you fight back pain You might not feel the consequences of having a bad posture at your desk right away, but the effect is cumulative. At some point in the future you’ll have to deal with the results of your bad habits.  Fortunately, even if your job requires you to spend long hours in front of a computer, there are a few ways to minimize the risk of developing back problems: Check your posture regularly – set an alarm on your phone to help you check your posture from time to time and correct it and stop you from developing bad habits. Choose a good chair – an ergonomic chair that offers lumbar support will help you feel more comfortable during the long working hours and avoid lower back pain.  Opt for a sit-stand desk – a converting desk has many benefits. You can choose how much time you spend sitting or standing without leaving your workspace. It’s a great way to break the routine of being tied up to your chair all the time.  Adjust the position of your screen – the height of your computer screen should be at or a little below eye-level to avoid pressure on your neck and upper back. Get a pair of headsets – to get rid of the habit of tucking the phone between your ear and your shoulder, consider buying a good pair of headsets that will free your hands and keep your neck muscles tension-free. Move – take short breaks regularly to get up and move. Stretching from time to time can be really useful to combat the effects of sitting in the same position for too long. Do some yoga – not at the office, of course. Studies have shown that yoga can help prevent and treat back pain, so now you know what you have to do in your spare time. Massage – another effective and relaxing way to maintain a healthy spine is massage therapy. Depending on your specific needs, there are several types of massage that can help address your issues. Why you should see a chiropractor Chiropractors are highly trained professionals who use a variety of non-invasive techniques to alleviate muscles, bones and joints pain and that is why chiropractic methods are a good alternative if you suffer from back problems. Most people who experience back pain choose to see a chiropractor first, before deciding to try other options like medical treatments or surgeries. That is because chiropractic is considered to be one of the safest ways to deal with acute back pain.  While some medications might treat the symptoms, chiropractic care focuses on addressing the root cause of the problem. Besides, medical treatments also involve dealing with side effects that some people might want to avoid. It’s also worth mentioning that chiropractors create personalized treatments for each individual, as there’s no one size fits all method, and they can also work in close collaboration with other healthcare specialist to devise the best treatment plan for their patients.  Whatever route you decide to take in order to deal with the problems caused by spending long hours in the office, it’s important to be informed about your options and be consistent when undergoing a treatment.

Meditation Can Be a Life Saviour Most of the times, the main cause of increased blood pressure can be our hectic lifestyle. Luckily, we have now within our reach plenty of stress reduction techniques to help us maintain both our hearth and mind relaxed. There is no doubt that meditation can be now a life saviour. When you think about it, it’s rather interesting how one comes about to their career paths in the end. How many times have someone asked you, “so what do you do for a living”? The career or even the prospect of one becomes intertwined with the intrinsic value of the person, whether they like it or not. Realizing your goal of becoming a personal fitness coach was likely never something that was on the bucket list of things to get into. For myself, it took deep thought, planning and a lot of kicking and screaming from outside sources as to how to make a job switch. However, when all was said and done, becoming a personal trainer was the best choice and most rewarding experience that one could ask for. Being your own boss and owning yourself is worth it! All that being said, this is the story of one man and should not persuade anyone to change doing what they thrive at - unless that happens to be making said person unhappy. People need to come to their own conclusions and paths by the ups, downs and everything in between that comes their way when making a career choice.    From the beginning, especially as a young man, there was a lot to learn in this crazy world of health and fitness. I started a personal training venture named Everfit which was sold and morphed into one named Busy Bee Fitness Experts. Wondering about the name? How that eventually came about is kind of a mystery - it just seemed to work. Although, it does seem rather fitting given that we work with busy professionals that don't necessarily have the time to workout on their own. We’ve come to learn that staying motivated to working out can be such a difficult and measured task, no matter who you are or your fitness ability. Any trainer with any sense can show someone how to train but it takes more than that. It requires a certain type of personality and good taste. All that aside, Toronto has been developing condo buildings at a record pace to boot and the gyms being built inside of them are absolutely phenomenal. In-home services, undoubtedly, has become the way of the future.     Educate Yourself About The Clients It’s one thing to gain clients but it’s another thing to retain them. For the vast number of us, it takes a lot of work to develop into the person you want to be in all aspects, whether you realize it at the time or not. Working hard to develop your skills as a personal trainer for the right reasons and good things will follow. An even larger number of people have asked me in the past what I personally believe makes a high-quality fitness expert. I always tell say the same thing – someone that knows how to communicate well and get along well with others. “No one says it but the best quality trainers around are the ones that become best friends with their clients. Is this unprofessional? Perhaps, but it’s essential to this type of career. Now, that can also work against some people but if you know how to find a happy medium level of communication and professionalism then you’re on the right track to having a loyal following of clients. Becoming a true professional requires a lot of motivation and dedication to being good at multiple things. Don’t stick to one niche but develop your skillset. What makes a successful fitness coach? Well, having the right attitude and being professional at all times to start. While during winter you might often tend to neglect your skin, summer is the season when you start noticing any small issues, such as dryness, lack of tan or irritations. Being prepared and looking your best when the temperatures start rising means focusing more on your skincare routine and knowing a few useful tips on the mater. You can improve the appearance of your skin in no time, as long as you take a few necessary steps. So what exactly are you recommended to do tho have healthy, vibrant and youthful skin? Here are some useful suggestions to look into, which could provide you with the appealing results you’re targeting:   Shorten your showers One of the things you can start with is taking shorter showers. Everybody loves to take a long, hot shower, but this can actually cause harm to your skin, contributing to its dryness. A five minute shower is usually recommended here. The water should also be lukewarm instead of hot. It might be a bit hard to get used to, but you will notice a difference once you make a habit out of it. After the shower, try to not rush into soaking all the water from your skin with a towel, let it partially dry on its own. Use a moisturizer daily The next key factor to improve the texture and appearance of your skin is to use a moisturizer on the daily. This will prevent you from dealing with fine lines on your face and will keep the skin vibrant on the rest of your body. When you are moisturizing after taking a shower, it’s preferably to pat the product instead of rubbing it, and to apply the moisturizer while the skin is still damp. What this will do is lock in the moisture and give you that glow you want. Choose spray tan to get a bit of colour If you haven’t been sunbathing in a while now, you might not feel comfortable wearing shorts or mini skirts because you aren’t exactly pleased with the colour of your skin. Having summer-ready skin means getting a bit of tan as well. However, resorting to sunbeds isn’t exactly a healthy option to consider, neither is actual sun exposure, so you shouldn’t be taking any risks just for cosmetic reasons. Luckily, nowadays, you have other alternatives that will make you look equally great, without coming with any potential risks. Spray tanning is an option many women resort to lately. It’s an easy way to get the colour you want and you won’t have to worry about sunburns, and other more serve problems that might come with sun exposure or sunbed tanning. However, keep in mind that you should choose the right spray tan option as well. Before booking this type of service do your research, find out what products they are using, and make sure you are getting the best for your money. Also, before you go for a spray tan session, prep your skin properly. You need to exfoliate and wax/shave prior to your appointment. Not taking the right steps before your spray tan could slightly affect the end results obtained. Replace your body wash Although you might already be using a moisturizer each time you get out of the shower, if your body wash isn’t exactly good, your skin might still get unnecessarily dry.  It’s not just about how short your showers are, but what you are using as well. Find a body wash with moisturizing properties, an emollient that will hydrate your skin while you are washing it and prep it for the actual moisturizer applied afterwards. Choose the right facial aesthetician Going for a professional facial from time to time is necessary, especially during summer when your complexion might seem more dull or irritated. However, just because you’ve booked an appointment at a salon somewhere doesn’t mean you’ll get the treatment you desire. It’s important to research your options carefully and find an aesthetician that knows how to do their job properly. This is even more relevant if you’ll be opting for extractions as well, and not just a hydrating or moisturizing process. Shave correctly If you usually prefer shaving as a hair removal technique, instead of waxing, you might often deal with stingy and aesthetically unpleasant razor burns. Your legs won’t look as perfect as you would want them if they are irritated and have razor burns all over. Replace your razer regularly – a sharper blade will allow you to shave more easily. Keep your shave strokes short, and also use lukewarm water when you’re doing this, instead of hot water. Close the pores using a cooling body spray when you’re done – it actually does make a difference. Wear sunscreen Last but not least, one major factor to remember here is to keep your skin protected against the sun. SPF should be your skin’s best friend during summer. Sunscreen will not only help you combat the risk of sunburns but will help you keep your skin youthful looking as well. You already know that skin exposed to too much sunlight, although tan, will age much faster than it should. Find a cream with SPF, and also check if your foundation has sunscreen in it. The products you use here should include 30 SPF and above for maximum protection. Over time, doing so will keep your skin supple and beautiful. Healthy, glowy is something every woman wants. There are a few things you need to pay attention to if you want to always look impeccable when a bit more skin is showing. For summer-ready skin, each one of the tips mentioned above is equally important to follow.  From taking shorter showers and using a better body wash to choosing spray tan instead of sunbathing, all of these recommendations will help you get and maintain the lovely glow you are seeking. Your skin can be beautiful and healthy, as long as you take care of it properly, and as you can see, it’s not as difficult as you might have assumed.

  • While during winter you might often tend to neglect your skin, summer is the season when you start noticing any small issues, such as dryness, lack of tan or irritations. Bad foot health can cause problems in the entire body, which is why looking after your feet is essential. Many things can be done to keep the feet healthy and prevent problems. There is nothing more important than preventative foot care. Keep on reading to learn how to care for your feet and keep them in tip-top condition. With a little bit of time and effort, you can give your feet a fabulous makeover.   Avoid sharing footwear It is tempting to share shoes with your partner, friend, child or anyone else in the family. Tempting as it may be, do not do it. Footwear is a thriving ground for different germs and microbes. You can get fungal infections just by wearing other people’s shoes. The point is that it is not safe to share shoes. Do not wear another person’s sandals or flip-flops. You can get athlete’s foot or, worse, a virus that causes acne-like whiteheads. To keep your feet healthy, always wear your own shoes. Shoes are not sharable. A pair of sneakers or boots undergo a change after a period of use. This means that they change in response to the shape of the feet. If you wear someone else’s shoes, you will not feel comfortable. This is because the footwear has adapted to suit a specific pair of feet and it might not meet your needs. As you can see, there are disadvantages in terms of comfort. Do not borrow or lend shoes.   Maintain a healthy weight Think about shedding a few pounds. Obesity can have a negative effect on foot health. The extra weight that is placed on the feet makes it more difficult to stand or move around. Not only is there physical stress on the skin and bones, but also the extra weight can change foot structure and function. If you do not have a healthy weight, you risk developing arthritis and suffer from pain. Losing weight will result in a slimmer you and happy feet. You do not have to be obese to experience problems. Even people who have just a couple of extra pounds can experience a change in posture. What happens is that the knees come closer and move the body weight to the insides of the feet. To maintain a healthy weight, you have to eat a high-protein breakfast, drink lots and lots of water, chew your food slowly, and stay away from fast-food. It is recommended to lose weight slowly. This way, you can keep the pounds off forever. Wear wider fit shoes The style of footwear plays an important role in your overall health. If you wear ill-fitting shoes, you are bound to deal with corns, calluses, and, most importantly, pain. Shoes like this weaken the feet, ankles, knees, not to mention your back. Wear wide fit shoes. The pair will last a lifetime and will give your feet the necessary space to breathe. You can find the perfect fit, whether you are looking for wider fitting sandals or boots in the latest styles. Sizing discrepancies exist between different brands, but you can order a pair of shoes that are just right for your feet. It is important to understand that each person is unique and so are you. You must buy shoes that are extremely wide and deep. Footwear of this kind will boost your comfort and help you look stylish. In case you did not know, wide fitting shoes are available in all styles and colours. There are so many options to choose from that you will not know what to take home. Make sure that you need wide fit shoes. If you have recurring blisters or cannot get rid of bunions, you may need special footwear. Wash your feet every day You wash your feet as often as you can. However, is it enough? According to health professionals, it is necessary to wash our feet every day. Why? Because they sweat more than other parts of the body and can harbour odour-causing bacteria. There are so many microorganisms living on the feet that it is impossible to say which ones cause the stench. Wash your feet on a daily basis and prevent bacteria build-up. Clean all the areas of the feet, in particular, the underside of the toes and between them. It is recommended to use mild soap. It is great if you have sensitive skin. What is more, mild soap softens the skin and does not take away is natural nutrients. Even if your feet do not look dirty, you should still wash them. If you keep your feet clean, you can prevent staph infections, athlete’s foot, and plantar warts. Make sure that a day does not go by without washing your feet. Never walk barefoot If you are like everyone else, you like going barefoot every once in a while. You like to feel the earth under your feet. You might want to be careful walking barefoot because the reward is not always worth the risk. You might injure yourself or contract a bacterial disease. You should never remove your shoes. Wear proper-fitting shoes and try to alternate between different pairs of shoes. Think twice about walking barefoot. It is not a good idea to let your feet be free. If you want to practice walking barefoot, use pillows. You will have better control of your foot position and get relief from ill-fitting shoes. Do this exercise in your home. If you must. Start slow and practice walking on safe surfaces. In the end, make sure to examine your feet for injuries. Some activities can put a strain on the feet, which leads to injury. Anyway, you will want to ensure that everything is okay. To sum up, think about your feet and take good care of them. Proper foot care can increase your quality of life, make you more productive, and increase your ability to be self-sufficient. Protect your feet and your health. Making small changes in your life will really make a difference.

History has illustrated that the ancient people have been using cannabis to treat a host of ailments from as far back as 2900 B.C. One of the main components of cannabis is CBD. CBD stands for cannabidiol, a ‘cannabinoid’ which is the term for one of the 108 chemical components of cannabis. CBD can be derived from either industrial hemp or marijuana, both of which are varieties of the cannabis plant.   In 1940, an American organic chemist named Roger Adams was able to isolate the CBD compound but he failed to describe what it was. Not until 1960 was an Israeli organic chemist named Raphael Mechoulam able to successfully separate and define the chemical structure of CBD. It was then determined that CBD has none of the psychoactive components of cannabis.   This started the battle to legalize CBD. By the 1950s, CBD was illegal in all 50 states because it was derived from the cannabis plant which was outlawed. When CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant, it is diluted with either coconut oil or hemp seed oil to create CBD oil.   Recently, a barrage of CBD products has been introduced into the market and enjoyed extensive media and internet coverage. These include creams, capsules, tinctures, patches, CBD oil, food supplements and drink. CBD products are now being sold in pharmaceuticals, grocery stores, gyms, and medical dispensaries around the country. Before, they can only be obtained through online suppliers who were definitely not licensed to distribute them.    That is until the US Congress approved the 2018 Farm Bill in December which included provisions for the legalization of industrial hemp. The removal of hemp from the controlled substances list meant that CBD extracted from industrial hemp also became legal. The Farm Bill is passed every 5 years and proposed legislation cover national policies for agriculture, nutrition, forestry and conservation.   Under federal law, CBD can now be legally dispensed. However, it is still subject to FDA regulations when its sale is accompanied by therapeutic claims. It is also subject under the rules of the US Drug Enforcement Administration. CBD from the marijuana plant remains restricted by the DEA because of its alleged potential for abuse. This makes access to the compound difficult for scientists who want to study more of CBD’s effects.   So what makes CBD so popular and controversial? CBD has beneficial effects such as calmness, relief and relaxation similar to other cannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, unlike THC which is the main psychoactive component of cannabis, CBD does not have the mind-altering effects normally associated with cannabis use. This characteristic makes CBD a more desirable option for people who want to reap the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids without experiencing the accompanying ‘high’.   CBD’s effectiveness for a variety of ailments has long been widely-touted. Some of the popular uses for CBD that are supported by promising research findings include reduction of depression and anxiety, relief from chronic pain, management of insomnia, and treatment of acne and other skin problems.   However, CBD’s strongest scientifically-backed evidence by far is its positive effects in the treatment of childhood epilepsy. In particular, those that cannot be controlled by anti-seizure medications such as the Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome. The internet has numerous videos of the amazing therapeutic benefits of CBD on pediatric patients. In fact, clinical trials revealed that CBD was able to successfully minimize the monthly frequency of seizures in children by as much as 44% and, in some cases, completely stop them.   As expected, certain side effects like diarrhea, poor appetite, drowsiness, and vomiting occurred among the subjects. However, they were all manageable and the data gathered was so strong that, on June 2018, the results gave rise to the release of Epidiolex, the first ever FDA-approved medicine for the treatment of these conditions. Epidiolex is an oral solution that contains purified CBD.   After decades of a legal battle for the approval of CBD, it has now been legalized in all 50 US states. Every day, more and more breakthroughs are being discovered and studies are underway to determine CBD’s beneficial effects. These include the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and behavioral disorders like schizophrenia.   In addition, projections for the CBD market in the US are expected to reach $20 billion by the year 2020. At present, CBD and its products are still prohibited in many countries around the world, but with the influx of new discoveries about its therapeutic benefits, this practice may just be reversed.

A live-in carer must undertake many different tasks as part of their job and one of these is helping to take care of an elderly patient’s pets. If you are thinking about homecare or live-in carer as a career it may surprise you to learn that one of your jobs will be to look after your patient’s pet. If you are a pet owner yourself or a keen animal lover then this won’t be too onerous a task but if you’ve never had to take care of an animal before what can you expect? You can find out more at the Live-in Care Hub (www.liveincarehub.co.uk) but in the meantime here are a few pointers.   Pets can be family members too Whether a budgie, fish, cat or dog, a pet is often a much loved and cherished part of the family and may have been with the family, or the person you are caring for, a long time. As such they deserve to be cared for with the same dedication that the owner would show as the presence of a loved and familiar pet can be of enormous comfort to its owner especially when everything appears to be changing in their life – such as their care.   The benefits that the companionship of an animal brings to elderly people in general is well documented and there are numerous care institutions which now allow visiting animals, often dogs but sometimes other creatures, to be brought into homes where older people can enjoy their company for a while. The sight of a dog snoozing at the feet of an elderly resident aids relaxation and calmness and can really help improve the quality of life of a person.   Owning a pet can be particularly beneficial for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The familiarity of a feeding, grooming or walking routine can help to calm agitated minds and combat loneliness and depression. A friendly animal can also help a distressed person to engage in cases where they are unable to do so around people.   Get extra help where needed Most pets are exactly like humans in that they thrive on a regular routine, appropriate exercise and companionship. When you start to care for an elderly person make a good start by making friends with their pet wherever possible and ask about feeding, cleaning and exercise schedules. Any veterinary medications that are needed should be noted and administered correctly. Where a dog is involved it will need daily walks to maintain good health so walking time should be factored into your daily routine.   Sometimes though, with the best will in the world it can be difficult to give adequate time and attention to a pet if your elderly patient is especially demanding or has complex needs. In these cases you should reach out to others who can help, perhaps the patient’s family or friends. Or enquire in the local area about respite or temporary pet sitting or dog walking services; many pet sitters care for all different animals.

Dementia patients are prone to confusion and anxiety but by understanding their needs they can be made to feel more safe and secure.   Dementia is a blanket term that refers to a life-changing decline in mental ability. Alzheimer’s is the most common form – affecting 60-80% of patients, with Vascular Dementia, often caused by a stroke, the next most common variety.   Research by the Live In Care Hub shows that dementia is the most feared illness with 34% saying they fear suffering it in later life. The research, published in the “No Place Like Home” report, also revealed that 52% of people are happier to talk about the condition than they were 10 years ago.   The increased awareness and willingness to discuss dementia is good news for dementia sufferers as it encourages those caring for them to learn about their needs and provide a secure, safe and familiar environment.   Core Symptoms To be considered dementia, at least two of the following areas must be affected: Memory Communication and language Ability to focus and pay attention Reasoning and judgement Visual perception   Many patients become agitated and scared when difficulty remembering impacts on their daily life. For example, forgetting which drawer the spoons are in or walking into the bedroom instead of the bathroom. If their language skills are diminishing, they may have difficulty in making themselves understood and may find it hard to listen to and follow instructions if their attention span dwindles. Another area where those with dementia can struggle is with mobility, even around familiar areas, as problems with visual perception can make rugs look like holes and thresholds look like steps.   Familiar Surroundings Memory is strengthened by repetition so it is important to keep changes to the home environment to a minimum. It can help to label doors, drawers and cupboards with the contents to help the patient locate items with the minimum of fuss. It is for this reason that many dementia patients decline if they need to move to a care home – learning new surroundings and routines simply confuses their damaged brain and they find it hard to adapt. In so many ways they are better being cared for with in-home care or live-in care at home.   Careful alterations can support independence One change that is useful to make is to remove rugs and mats – even ones taped to the floor. As mentioned above, these can be seen as holes or steps and turn into trip hazards, thus increasing the risk of falls. Good lighting helps so ensure that curtains are opened and lights fitted with bright enough bulbs. Carpets are usually a better choice as the noise of walking across a hard floor can be disorientating to sufferers, and should contrast with the walls so the edges are clear.   Remembering who’s who It can be difficult for those with dementia to keep track of new faces. If in home care is required then the same carers should be requested so that the patient recognises them. Labelled photographs, together with times when the carer will be present, can be helpful. If the sufferer has live in carers then placing a photograph of the current carer in a prominent position will help avoid anxiety.

It’s said that the joy of reading never leaves you. Getting stuck into a good book or favourite magazine is a wonderful way to pass the time whatever your age.   The joy of becoming totally immersed in a good read is something which often has its roots in childhood and most keen readers will tell you that reading is something which is invaluable as a tool for relieving stress or simply for passing a few hours. According to the Live-in Care Hub many older people find their days significantly enhanced when they have access to reading materials.   Indeed, according to their No Place like Home report many carers, whether they are providing live-in care 24/7 or regular home care services during the day, have confirmed that elderly people are happiest when they have familiar things like their favourite books around them. When your senior relative has a bookshelf groaning with books it can be difficult wondering what book to get for them that they haven’t already read. Here are some suggestions.   Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen This award-winning book, recommended for elderly people by Goodreads, tells the story of love between two people from different worlds.   The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway This is about an old fisherman and his battle for survival against rough seas. It’s a fairly simple and short but absorbing tale.   Nana in the City by Lauren Castillo This would be a lovely story to read to the grandkids as well as being one that can whisk you away to a world of a young boy, his grandmother and a magic cape.   Making the Rounds with Oscar by David Dosa An extraordinary true story of the cat who knew when people at the end of their lives needed the comfort he could provide. Heart-warming and inspiring.   The Little Lady Who Broke All The Rules by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg A 79 year old woman dreams of escaping her humdrum life and robbing a bank. She and four friends decide to rebel against the ordinary and go on to have fun adventures.   Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson Set in a traditional English village this book explores the local characters, their travails and foibles.   One Man’s Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey by Richard Proenneke An inspiring read for those with an adventurous streak.   These are just a few general suggestions of course but you can also consider books relating to hobbies and interests whether that be gardening, wildlife, caravans, motorcycles or crafts. The choice is endless.   Audiobooks and E-Readers   For people who are blind or partially-sighted or who have difficulty in concentrating audiobooks or podcasts are a godsend. Simply download some onto an easily accessible device which they or their carer can operate. The RNIB have a large collection of talking books for the blind.   An e-reader like the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is a great option as it has options to set font size for easier reading and the screen is glare-free even in bright sunlight. Downloading books is simple to do and the device is very user-friendly.    With all these options, both for books to try and for devices to read them on, there’s really no reason your elderly relative or friend shouldn’t be able to enjoy reading, wherever they may be!

Thinking of becoming a live-in carer? If you aren’t sure if it’s the right job for you then perhaps these unexpected benefits will change your mind. There are many reasons why someone chooses to become a live-in carer. Perhaps you’ve cared for an elderly relative and wish to continue caring for others once they’ve passed away or moved into residential care. Perhaps you’ve worked in a care home and now want a change of job to something that offers a bit more flexibility. Or perhaps it’s all new to you and you just like the idea of making someone’s twilight years just that little bit more comfortable, whether it’s by providing regular home care or actually living with the person needing care.   A rising elderly population means you’ll never be out of a job Perhaps unsurprisingly, research by the Live in Care Hub, published in their “No Place Like Home” report, found that an overwhelming majority of people would prefer to remain in their own home, with a carer if necessary, rather than move into residential care. This, coupled with rising numbers of older people, means there is likely to be high demand for live-in care at home in the future meaning you can be pretty sure you won’t be out of a job any time soon.   You may reduce your living costs considerably There are many different shift patterns for live-in carers to reflect the differing needs of their clients. Some carers choose to offer a level of care that allows them to make their clients home their own. This allows them to reduce their living costs by avoiding the need to own or rent accommodation for nights that they spend away from the home.   Even carers who work with a client who needs more constant care, and therefore change shift on a regular basis, can keep the running costs of their own home low as it requires less heating and cleaning whilst not in use. Some enterprising carers even rent their own dwelling for short-term lets when they are not using it!   You won’t be lonely Many carers starting their first live-in care position worry that they will become lonely or isolated from their own friends and family. All carers are entitled to regular breaks in which some choose to use to leave the client’s house and meet with friends for coffee or to attend meetings of clubs and activities.   Plus, there’s always your client to talk to. Part of the role of live-in carer is to provide companionship and many old people are always ready to chat about the weather, their family, what’s on TV or reminisce about their past. And unlike the majority of care homes live-in care enables clients to remain with their pets, so if you like animals you may well find yourself caring for a dog, cat, goldfish – even a pony or llama – as well as your client. In fact, many live-in carers are “empty nesters” who are looking for a career to fill the gap where raising a family once sat and find live-in care to provide them with the ideal combination of a caring role, company and career.

Information, resources and tips to help you care for yourself whilst caring for an elderly relative, which can be very challenging.   Statistics tell us that within the UK, 1 in 5 people aged between 50 and 64 are carers  and around 65% of older carers (aged between 60 and 94) have long-term health issues themselves on top of caring. The same studies also revealed that nearly 70% of older carers say that their caring position causes them to have problems with their mental health. Not all older carers are caring for their parents and could be caring for their children, partner or friend. However, many older carers are caring for their parents, or one of their parents, which can have many unique challenges including:   Struggling with the role reversal with your parent Handling the various moods and emotions of a parent who requires care (they may feel bitter, embarrassed or resentful) Handling the physical and emotional behaviour of a parent with dementia Missing a parent who is no longer 'themselves' because of dementia Dealing with the responsibility of keeping a parent safe and in good health Coping with the physical challenges of caring Balancing family life and a career with your caring role Struggling with your own emotions of resentment, anger, bitterness, sadness and more   These are just some of the challenges that can arise when you care for a parent. When caring for your Mother, there may be particular challenges that come from your position. Your Mother may have been the one you always turn to for advice, the one you always admired for her strength and togetherness, the one who always looked out for you. It can be so hard to handle the change, particularly when the bond with your Mother is strained whilst you need to provide adequate care to ensure her wellbeing.   How To Cope With Caring For An Elderly Mother   To care for your Mother well, you must put yourself first. Unfortunately that is not always the main priority of caregivers. In fact, most caregivers struggle to put themselves first, which can result in caregiver burnout eventually. Caregiver burnout is where a person is physically and emotionally exhausted from caring and they are then unable to provide care to themselves or their loved one whilst trying to recover from the breakdown. It can take years to get over a breakdown, so it is important to try and avoid it. Can you include any of the following in your life to help you cope with your caregiver position?   Hobbies that are just for you Exercise A healthy diet Abstinence from bad habits that you lean on to cope Regular chats and support from your GP, friends, family and neighbours Any activities that help you stay in touch with your own worth and identity   The more healthy and balanced your life is and the more emotional support you allow yourself to take, the better.   Is It Time To Consider Respite Care? If you are doing everything you can to cope with caring for your elderly Mother but you know you need a little more support, perhaps it is time to consider respite care. Home care agencies can provide home care to your loved one as a one off, once a week, for a set time everyday, or for holiday cover. Professional carers will come to your home and care for your loved one, allowing you the time to relax, run errands, spend time with friends and family, or simply to get outdoors and get some time away from the home. If you think you might need more support long-term, you could speak to home care agencies about long-term at home care where the carer lives in your home and cares for your loved one. This is a great alternative to residential care and means your loved one remains at home with you, but you are able to relieve some or all of your caregiver duties.   It can be hard to swallow your pride and recognise that you can't do it all, all the time. To enquire about home care services or respite care, speak to some local care agencies. Also speak to your doctor about getting a care assessment for your Mother and take a look at The Live-in Care Hub for more information about live-in care. Your Mother deserves to be happy and healthy, and so do you. Reaching out for help is a really important step to take if you need some support with your caregiving role.

Find out about the nutritional needs you may have as somebody with less mobility and how to achieve new nutritional goals for optimum health.   Making and preparing meals when you have issues with arthritis or other mobility problems can be very challenging. The simple act of slicing a cucumber, opening a jar or even just making some toast can be very difficult and as a result your nutrition can suffer. 1 million adults aged 65 or over in the UK are malnourished or at risk of malnourishment and many of those people may struggle because of issues with mobility. Adversely, the right nutrition is very important for anyone but particularly those who are less mobile. As we age our nutritional needs change and a big challenge can be getting the right nutrients on fewer calories and ensuring we don't consume too many calories. If you are less mobile the already present challenge of nutrition becomes even more challenging. Here are some tips to help you maintain your nutrition if you are less mobile:   Count Your Calories If you move less you require fewer calories. It is important for you to count your calories and ensure you are getting the right nutrition from the smaller amount of food you are consuming. It can be challenging to do this but so important as weight gain is only going to cause further issues with mobility and increase your risk of obesity related diseases like Type 2 Diabetes.   Consider Some Help At Home The Live-in Care Hub completed a study that found that most people would prefer to avoid residential care if they are unwell or unable to care for themselves and residential care might not even be appropriate for you if you simply need some help with basic tasks. The same study showed that somebody who has live-in care is much more likely to enjoy the food and drink they want, than someone within residential care. Home care services can be really useful to help with shopping and cooking nutritious meals for you. Home care services can also help maximise your mobility and help you stay as independent as possible.   Pack In The Protein For the elderly and those who are less mobile protein is so important. When you don't get enough protein in your diet you lose body fat, lean mass and muscle and you can't maintain the strength you currently have let alone build more strength. So, you could even be limiting your ability to improve mobility just by not eating enough protein. Some great protein sources  are eggs, lean meat and legumes.   Maintain Good Bone Health Falls can be really tricky injuries to recover from as you age, so it is important to keep your bones as strong as possible with exercise and diet. Although calcium is important when it comes to your bone health, a good variety of fruits and vegetables is also important.     It is important that you seek specific advice for good nutrition to ensure that your health and vitality is optimum as you age. With changing nutritional needs as we get older some simple tweeks can make a huge difference. The right diet changes and support could even boost your mobility, if not maintain it along with good levels of health, for an active and healthy later life.

Read about how to ensure your mind stays healthy and clear as you age, with great tips, tricks and information to support your mind through the years.   As we age, our physical and mental health naturally declines. However, this can be preventable or at the very least we can slow it down with a little extra effort with our lifestyle. It is so important to put the plans in place to retain the best possible health, so that later life can be as vibrant and rewarding as possible. With your mind in particular, it is naturally going to degrade to some level as you get older, and certain aspects of getting older make your brain more likely to decline, so you have to pay extra care and attention to your brain health to ensure it stays in tip top condition for the best possible brain health in your golden years. Here are X ways to keep your mind healthy in later life:   Decrease The Things That Make You Unhappy In a study completed in Boston with people over the age of 65 with amazing memories it was found that part of the success of their incredible memories was taking the steps to reduce or remove things they didn't like in their life, as early as middle age. Jobs they hated, taking more holidays, doing more activities that made them happy all contributed to preventing brain health decline as they aged. So, now is the time to reduce the things in your life that don't make you feel great, and replace them with the happiest activities, for the good of your brain health.   Maintain Your Sense Of Purpose Something that is often lost when people move into care homes, or when they age in general, is that they lose their sense of purpose. This can lead to depression which is really bad for brain health. Whether you have a gardening project, you volunteer at a local charity shop or you have a role in your local social group, maintaining your sense of purpose will help keep your brain young.   Stay Social Staying social is so important when it comes to the health of your brain. Being lonely is known to be as bad for you as smoking, so the more you can stay in touch with others the better for your brain. In fact, contact with children improves mental health in the elderly. If you struggle to stay mobile and find that is a hindrance to your social life, it might be worth looking into homecare services. Live-in care provides excellent support and companionship helping maintain your independence.   Stay Active Exercise boosts blood flow and oxygen to the brain so it is important to stay active in later life to maintain your brain health.   Eat Well Nutritional needs change as you get older so eating well is essential, for a wide variety of reasons including maintaining your brain health. Eat a balanced diet with plenty of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to ensure you stay sharp in later life.   If you need some help maintaining your health and wellbeing, it is important to seek help. Speak to your GP, to your homecare services provider or live-in care provider, to your social services agent or to friends and family to look into getting some support. Your brain health, and overall well being can thrive with the right routine, activities and support in place.

Find out about key challenges of elderly care in both live-in and residential settings, as well as common advantages and benefits to this kind of job.   There are currently over 11.8 million people in the UK aged over 65 which means there are lots of jobs constantly being created within the care industry. Working within care can be extremely rewarding, enabling you to work within a profession that truly makes a difference to others. The right senior care really makes a difference to people’s lives.   However, working with the elderly doesn't come without its challenges, including many that don't crop up in other jobs. If you are considering carer jobs or care home jobs, it is important to think about the challenges you might face in this industry so you can be as prepared as possible.   Here are some common challenges of caring for the elderly:   Your Client Might Not Ask For Help It is extremely common for carers to work with clients who do not ask for help. They may not think they need any, they might think it undermines their independence, they might be too proud. Being gentle, understanding and willing to always try but never force is important. In the case of safety though, you have to tactfully step in.   It Is Physically Demanding It is physically demanding to work within care. At the very least you are likely to be on your feet all day and at most you will be lifting and moving your clients as part of the job. The physical demands of caring are quite challenging so it is important to be physically fit within this type of job.   Your Client Might Not Recognise You Dementia comes with some huge challenges for carers, including the fact your client might not recognise you. They may also not understand your intention to help them and to keep them safe. This can be very tricky to navigate when you're a carer, but with some specialist training and a lot of patience and kindness, there's always a way to maintain your clients wellbeing and happiness. With research showing that people with dementia find live-in care better than a care home a role as a live-in carer can be particularly rewarding.   Particularly Sensitive Situations As a carer you might need to help somebody use the toilet, to help clean them after they go to the toilet. You may be helping them have a bath or shower, to help them dress. This can be a hurdle to get used to at the beginning of your career. A sensitive and compassionate approach to this kind of care is a must.   Letting Go Like any caring person, you will likely get attached to at least some of your clients. This is normal and can be a lovely part of the job, but it doesn't come without its heartbreak. As their health declines, as they get more dementia symptoms or pass away you may find it very tough.   If you are interested in live-in carer jobs, or care home jobs then it is important to understand the challenges involved in this kind of career. You can find out more at The Live-in Care Hub (www.liveincarehub.co.uk) or contact a live-in care agency or local care home for more information. It can take time to get used to some of the difficulties associated with caring for the elderly and infirm, and even the most experienced carers still need support and training with certain aspects of the job. All of that aside, the job is still very rewarding and offers some fantastic benefits.
