6 places to get comfort food for under $10

Who says you need a lot of money to be fed? Here are some comfort dishes under $10 that you can try.

1. PAN-FRIED MIXED MINCED MEAT AND SEAFOOD DUMPLINGS, $9 FOR 10 PIECES
JING HUA XIAO CHI, 21 NEIL ROAD (TEL: 6221-3060) 온라인카지노

Dumplings (or guo tie) are an excellent quick meal, and pan-fried dumplings are often delicious because of the mix of crispy skin and juicy meat filling. The dumplings here are made with a thicker crust to give more bite, and the unconventional shape allows for crisper edges.

2. FISH LOR MEE, $4
AH MA LOR MEE, 328 CLEMENTI AVENUE 2 (TEL: 8288-0810)

Three generations have been serving this dish. The bowls of slippery egg noodles come with flaky, tender fish meat, crispy fried meatball, braised egg and pork belly doused in piping hot gravy.

3. KWAY CHAP, FROM $4
JOO SIAH BAK KOOT TEH, 349 JURONG EAST AVENUE 1, 01-1215

While Joo Siah is popular for its peppery bak kut teh, its kway chap is gaining fans.

The key to the eatery's popularity is the silky noodles. When coupled with the aromatic stew, this is the ultimate comfort food.

4. PENANG LAKSA, FROM $4.80
PENANG SEAFOOD RESTAURANT, 32 ALJUNIED ROAD (TEL: 6841-3002) 온라인바카라

Nothing like a warm bowl of assam soup to lift the spirits - especially when there is 20 per cent off this dish till Sept 30. When you are there, also check out its la la (clams) Hokkien mee and char kway teow, both of which are also great mood boosters.

5. CHICKEN CURRY, FROM $7.90
RENDEZVOUS RESTAURANT HOCK LOCK KEE, 02-72 TO 75/77/92 THE CENTRAL (TEL: 6339-7508)

The chicken curry is one of many dishes here, but if you are cash-strapped and want some home-style food, order this and rice. If budget allows, you can order other stuff - such as beef rendang, sambal brinjal and sambal prawn - to add on.

6. SALTED EGG LOTUS ROOT, FROM $10.80
UNCLE LEONG SIGNATURES, B1-21 WATERWAY POINT(TEL: 6385-9989) 안전놀이터

This is slightly above our $10 limit but it is worth a mention as it is a popular dish.

The restaurant serves seafood but the fresh sliced lotus root with marinated flour and salted egg yolk is an addictive option.

I tweeted this morning asking whether tweeting with proper casing (and grammar, too — why not) is cool or lame. I wanted to bring the conversation to the forums and expand it a bit: do you think society should be 100% proper while posting on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc? I think brands should definitely maintain that standard, but what about humans? 인터넷바카라 When I first joined Twitter and for the first year or two, I was *very* careful to always post with 100% correct grammar and spelling and punctuation. Nowadays, the only time I really care is if I'm mobile, because you're forced to use capital letters at the beginning of sentences.

Los Angeles prosecutors said on Tuesday (Sept 4) that they did not plan to file sexual assault charges in three separate cases targeting actors Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and Anthony Anderson. 온라인바카라 The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office told AFP that the cases involving Spacey and Seagal were not being pursued because the statute of limitations had run out, while the case against Anderson was being dropped because the alleged victim had declined to be interviewed by police. Spacey, who lost his role in the hit series House Of Cards following sexual misconduct charges against him in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, had been accused of sexually assaulting an unidentified acquaintance in 1992. "The allegation is outside the statute of limitations, therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted and prosecution is declined," the prosecutor's office said. The case for the action-movie star Seagal, who was accused of assaulting an 18-year-old acquaintance in 1993, was also abandoned on the same grounds. 바카라사이트주소 Black-ish star Anderson was accused of sexually assaulting a woman earlier this spring, but the alleged victim "has declined to be interviewed by the investigating officer", the prosecutor's office said.   The woman had told police that the assault took place at an event the actor had hosted. He has denied the claim. Spacey and Seagal are facing potential charges in other cases currently under investigation. Spacey is also under investigation for sexual misconduct in London. Seagal has denied the accusations against him. Spacey's publicist in November said the two-time Oscar winner, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen men and boys, was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment".

Most fruit tarts flaunt their bright fillings. Whether their fruit is added to pastry before or after baking, they are vivid confections - conspicuously appealing and hard to resist. 안전놀이터 This plum tart is a dessert of a shyer order, less ostentatious than its flashy friends. On the surface, it's subtle, looking like a giant shortbread cookie. But once it's cut, the tart reveals a magenta stripe of simmered plums in each slice - fragrant with cinnamon and glistening with honey. The recipe is based on a gâteau Breton, a traditional flat cake from Brittany consisting of an egg yolk-enriched, butter-based dough that sometimes sandwiches jam or dried fruit purée. Older recipes often call for using all- or part-buckwheat flour, once the region's principal grain (and used in its famous crepes). Now, you are more likely to see gâteaux Breton made with regular wheat flour, which, in combination with the butter, gives it a particularly rich, crumbly texture. I have made the recipe with puréed dried apricots or prunes in the centre, homemade or spooned from jars of lekvar (also known as prune or apricot butter). But when fresh plums are plentiful, it makes sense to use those instead. And, if you find red or purple ones, they will make for an extremely pretty slice. You will need to cook the plums down, but that takes only about 15 minutes. While they simmer, you can add aromatics to the pot. I threw in a cinnamon stick and a rosemary sprig, along with some honey. But feel free to play around with other herbs and spices. A few slices of ginger root and some lemon thyme could also be nice. 바카라사이트   You could also skip the compote and substitute jam in a layer as thick or thin as you like. A thin one will be elegant and restrained; a thick spread, sweeter and more extravagantly messy. Just be sure to choose a jam with good acidity, so that it is tangy next to the buttery dough. Raspberry and orange marmalade fare better than strawberry and peach, but the possibilities for variation are many. Or stick with the plum compote, and consider serving this as dessert for your Rosh Hashana dinner. Rich and honeyed, it is a sweetly appropriate treat to usher in the New Year. Yield: 12 servings Time: 1 ½ hours Ingredients1 cup plus 1 to 3 Tbs granulated sugar2⅓ cups all-purpose flour¾ tsp ground cinnamon¼ tsp fine sea salt225 g unsalted butter (2 sticks), diced, plus more for greasing pan1 large egg5 large egg yolks4 large plums, halved, pitted, and sliced 6cm thick (about 2¼ cups)2 Tbs full-flavoured honey such as wildflower1 cinnamon stick1 small sprig rosemary (optional) Method 인터넷카지노1. In a food processor, process 1 cup sugar until powdery and fine, about 1 minute. Add flour, cinnamon and salt; pulse to combine. Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add egg and 4 egg yolks, and pulse until mixture comes together. Divide dough in half, form into disks, and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill at least 2 hours or until firm. 2. In a small saucepan, combine plums, 1 to 3 Tbs sugar (this depends on how sweet your plums are), cinnamon, honey and rosemary sprig, if using. Simmer until jammy and thick, 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer plum mixture to a bowl to cool, and remove cinnamon stick and rosemary sprig. Taste and stir in more sugar if mixture seems very tart. 3. Heat oven to 170 deg C. Grease an 20-cm springform pan and place it on a rimmed baking sheet to catch any butter leaks. 4. Between two sheets of parchment paper or plastic wrap, roll one of the dough halves into an 20cm circle. Transfer dough to prepared cake pan, pressing into edges. Spoon plum compote on top of dough, leaving 2cm border around edge. 5. Roll second piece of dough into an 20cm circle, transfer to pan, press around outside edge to stick the pieces together and seal in fruit. 6. In a small bowl, combine remaining egg yolk with 1 tsp water and beat lightly. Brush over top of cake, then use a fork to score a crisscross pattern into the dough. Bake until golden brown, 1 hour (cover with foil if cake is browning too quickly). Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then run a butter knife around the inside edge of the pan and unmold from ring. Cool completely and serve.

A stirring story of revenge and friendship involving an Irish convict woman and an Aboriginal tracker in colonial Tasmania was hailed the favourite on Thursday (Sept 6) to win the Golden Lion at the Venice film festival. 바카라사이트 The Nightingale by Australian Jennifer Kent - the only film directed by a woman out of a total 21 vying for the top prize - had critics reaching for comparisons with Jane Campion's 1993 masterpiece The Piano. But the first screening of Kent's haunting evocation of the brutality of the former penal colony, whose original inhabitants were all but wiped out in a genocide, was marred by racist and sexist abuse hurled at its makers. After loud cheers had greeted the demise of a British officer near the end of the film who had murdered the heroine's husband and baby, a handful of Italians in the audience clapped the death of the Aboriginal man who had helped her. Then, as Kent's name came up in the credits, one shouted: "Shame on you, whore! Your film sucks." A young Italian director later admitted he was the culprit and apologised for the "deplorable insult", saying it was "not meant to be misogynist". The dearth of women in the official line-up has seen Venice condemned for its "toxic masculinity" and the organisers forced into an embarrassing U-turn on gender equality. 카지노사이트 But the Brisbane-born actor-turned-director refused to be provoked, telling reporters her film proved the "absolute importance of reacting with compassion and love to ignorance. "We see other options played out and they gave no succour or relief," said Kent, who turned down the Hollywood blockbuster Wonder Woman to make her own historical epic. "Love, compassion and kindness are our lifeline and if we don't utilise them we will all go down the plughole," she added. The film, which is shot in English, Irish Gaelic and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Palawa Kani language, portrays the extreme violence and racism of the island in the 1820s when it was known as Van Diemen's Land. Variety called it "a magnificent mass of movie... an elemental revenge tale (of) near-mythic grandeur". But critic Jessica Kiang of The Playlist website said that with judicious cuts to "pare it back to its thrilling and beautiful essentials, The Nightingale will really sing." Kent said she it was "incredibly important" that audiences be shocked by the brutality she depicts. 카지노사이트주소 "I hope horror and beauty exist side-by-side. But we are so numbed and anaesthetised to cinema violence - we can watch a movie where 50 people die and feel nothing. "This is objectionable and disagreeable to me. I wanted to show the human cost," she told AFP. Rising Irish-Italian star Aisling Franciosi, of The Fall fame, said she never realised quite how violent the penal colony was, "particularly towards women, who were outnumbered eight to one. "They were sent there for very petty crimes to populate the island. It made me furious to see how cruel, brutal and systematic it was." Kent said the story of genocide and enslavement "needs to be told", hanging her plot on the touching and unlikely friendship between an enslaved convict played by Franciosi and a tracker by Aboriginal actor Baykali Ganambarr. "When I first went to Tasmania I was struck by the residual sadness in the land," she told AFP. "I visited the penal colonies and felt the ghosts of many heartbroken souls that somehow stayed in the place and I always wanted to tell the story." Ganambarr said there was no "sugar coating... This is what happened to my people and I am really proud to represent them." Kent, who wrote the script, said being the sole woman director in competition in Venice "brings me no joy. I wish I had my sister filmmakers here. Cinema's job is to reflect the world and if we only reflect 50 per cent, it's not doing that." The last time a woman took Venice's top prize was 43 years ago when German director Margarethe von Trotta won with Marianne And Juliane.

Burt Reynolds, whose good looks and charm made him one of Hollywood’s most popular actors as he starred in films such as Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Smokey And The Bandit in the 1970s and 1980s, has died at age 82, a spokesman for his Los Angeles agent said on Thursday (Sept 6). 바카라사이트 Reynolds died on Thursday morning at the Jupiter Medical Centre in Florida, The Hollywood Reporter said, citing Reynolds’manager, Erik Kritzer. At the peak of his career, Reynolds was one of the most bankable actors in the film industry, reeling off a series of box office smashes until a career downturn in the mid-1980s. He rebounded in 1997 with a nomination for a best supporting actor Academy Award for Boogie Nights and won an Emmy Award for his role in the 1990-1994 TV series Evening Shade. With his trademark moustache, rugged looks and macho aura, he was a leading male sex symbol of the 1970s. He appeared naked - reclining on a bearskin rug with his arm strategically positioned for the sake of modesty - in a centrefold in the women's magazine Cosmopolitan in 1972. 온라인카지노 Reynolds' personal life sometimes overshadowed his movies, with marriages that ended in divorce to actresses Loni Anderson and Judy Carne and romances with others, including Sally Field and Dinah Shore. Reynolds also generated attention for financial woes and his struggles with prescription pain medication. Reynolds cited director John Boorman's Oscar-nominated 1972 Deliverance as his best film and said he regretted that the hoopla from his Cosmopolitan appearance detracted from the movie that made him a star. He played tough-guy Lewis Medlock - opposite Jon Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox - in the chilling tale of a canoe trip gone bad in rural Georgia. He starred in dozens of films, also including White Lightning (1973), WW And The Dixie Dancekings (1975),Hustle (1975), Nickelodeon (1976) and Semi-Tough (1977). He was the top money-making star at the box office in an annual poll of movie exhibitors 1978 through 1982. Many of his films were set in the South. He often played a lovable rascal who outwits local authorities as in director Hal Needham's 1977 crowd-pleasing action comedy Smokey And The Bandit, co-starring his girlfriend Field and Jackie Gleason, and its two sequels. He appeared in a supporting role 2005's remake with Adam Sandler. Reynolds also directed several movies in which he starred, including Gator (1976), The End (1978), Sharky's Machine(1981) and Stick (1985). While some of his performances were critically praised, others were ridiculed, particularly in the bloated action comedy Cannonball Run II, a sequel to his financial success Rhe Cannonball Run (1981). He also starred in the notorious 1975 musical flop At Long Last Love, a film so atrocious that director Peter Bogdanovich publicly apologised for making it. Reynolds turned down notable roles, including Han Solo in Star Wars, which went to Harrison Ford; the title role in a James Bond film; and the astronaut in Terms Of Endearment that Jack Nicholson turned into an Oscar-winning performance.

A 1943 propaganda film featuring a Japanese "Robin Hood" in Malaya inspired the new Teater Ekamatra production opening this week. 안전놀이터 Written by Alfian Sa'at and directed by Teater Ekamatra's artistic director Mohd Fared Jainal, Tiger Of Malaya features a cast from Singapore and Japan, and runs at the Drama Centre Black Box from Sept 12 till Sept 23. The term "Tiger Of Malaya" is often associated with Japanese general Tomoyuki Yamashita, who captured Malaya and Singapore during World War II. However, the old film and this week's play are based on the life story of Tani Yutaka, a Japanese bandit who lived in Malaya. He is portrayed as a heroic figure, leading his band against British imperial forces and "evil" Chinese capitalists. The play re-enacts scenes from the film - with "interruptions, interventions and subversions" according to Alfian. Malay actors play parts that were originally played by a Japanese cast. The cast includes Farez Najid, Siti Khalijah Zainal and Rei Poh from Singapore, and Rei Kitagawa and Yuya Tanaka from Japan. Dialogue is in Malay, English, Japanese and Mandarin - Japanese-speaking researcher Shawn Chua is the dramaturg. Actor Farez, 30, watched the Tiger Of Malaya film even before being cast for the production. "It was with a bunch of boys who were interested in war and it was hilarious," he says. 바카라사이트 For him and many of the other performers in their 30s, World War II is too far away to affect the present day. "We consume Japanese media a lot, the culture," he points out. "The war is generations away." Japanese actor Tanaka, 31, feels equally distant from the war but says: "I'm curious how people will respond to the play." Alfian, who has written several plays for Teater Ekamatra including political satire GRC (2015), is fascinated by the "mythmaking" aspect of Tiger Of Malaya, where a bandit "was pitched as a symbol of the Japanese providing anti-colonial and nationalist leadership in Asia". "I've been very interested in exploring historiography - or how history is written - through theatre, and I felt that the movie provided this very rich material," he says. For the director, Fared, the play brought up similar questions. "How can we relate back to an event that happened way before this current time? How true is history being recorded?" he asks. 인터넷카지노 Work began on Tiger Of Malaya well before it was announced that Singapore would commemorate its bicentennial in 2019 - 200 years after Stamford Raffles landed. Fared says: "We were not particularly aligning it to the whole bicentennial celebrations. But somehow with this work, it questions our very own existence in this part of the world through the lens of history."

An article in an online magazine under famed American lifestyle guru and cookbook author Martha Stewart's brand prompted taunts from netizens when it mistook durian for jackfruit. 인터넷바카라 The article, titled Here's Exactly How To Use Jackfruit, published on Stewart's eponymous site under a section named Strive, which purports to be about "the art and science of taking care", mistakenly featured a picture of durians. A line about jackfruit which appeared right before the picture of the durians said:"This tropical fruit, often grown in India and southeast Asia, has a texture that can be an excellent substitute for meat." While unripe jackfruit has become popular in recent years as a meat substitute because its fruit can be easily shredded, similar to pulled pork, durian's texture is very different from meat and is not known to be used as a substitute. 카지노사이트 Netizens spotted the error and descended upon the 77-year-old, who now has a lifestyle empire under her name. Reactions ranged from ridiculing Stewart to asking for more diverse writers on her team, to avoid such mistakes. Freelance writer Erin Chew who uses the name ThisAsianWomanSays on Twitter tagged Stewart's official Twitter and questioned how she could make the mistake and why no one on Stewart's team bothered to do an image search of jackfruit. She added: "Can these celebrity #white folks get our SE Asian fruits correct?"

United States rapper Nicki Minaj has refuted suggestions that she insulted fellow rapper Cardi B's daughter. Cardi B implied earlier, without naming anyone, that comments about her daughter had led her to get into a scuffle with Minaj last Friday night. 바카라사이트주소 The altercation, which took place at a New York Fashion Week party, was caught on tape. Magazine Vanity Fair reported on Monday (Sept 10) that Minaj had made her latest comments about the issue during an interview with Beats 1's Queen Radio on Apple Music. Minaj said that the pair's skirmish last week had been "something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through in front of a bunch (of) upper-echelon people who have their life together". "The way they passed by, looking at this disgusting commotion - I was mortified," she said. "I was in a Gaultier gown off the motherf****** runway, and I could not believe how humiliat(ing) it all felt, (how) we made ourselves look." The incident happened at a bash hosted by fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar. Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, lunged towards Minaj, 35, but was stopped and held back by security. 안전놀이터 The 25-year-old rapper was heard yelling loudly and asking Minaj to come to her and was seen throwing a shoe at Minaj. In an expletive-laden note on Instagram shortly after the incident, Cardi B wrote that the reason for her outburst was because of comments made about her ability to be a good mother to her daughter. She did not name who made those comments. Cardi B gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, in July. But Minaj said in her radio interview, referring to herself in third person: "I just want people to know that Onika Tanya Maraj (Minaj's real name) has never, will never...speak ill on anyone's child. I am not a clown. That's clown s***. "The world gave you a blessing, of a beautiful bundle of joy, and the only thing on your mind after you gave birth was to attack people." 바카라사이트 Minaj, who had not made any comments about the altercation immediately after it took place, said that she had not felt the need to defend herself that night. However, she suggested that Cardi B posted about the incident because she felt embarrassed. Minaj added that Cardi B "built her career off sympathy and payola". Payola refers to the frowned-upon practice in the music industry of paying a DJ to promote one's music. The pair have had a complicated relationship following the success of Cardi B's rap track Bodak Yellow, released in 2017. Comparisons were often made between the two female rappers and rumours were rife that Minaj took digs at Cardi B through song lyrics. Referring to Cardi B during her radio interview, Minaj said: "Do you know what it is to sit in your room for hours and days at a time writing raps? You came into my f****** culture! I never had a DJ to play my f****** songs. "This is about, get this woman some f****** help. This woman is at the best stage of her career and she's throwing bottles? Who the f*** is gonna give her an intervention?"

LOS ANGELES (REUTERS) - Los Angeles prosecutors said on Tuesday (Sept 11) they would not charge Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter over a 2003 sexual assault accusation because it fell outside the California statute of limitations. 인터넷카지노 The Los Angeles District Attorney's office said it had reviewed the accusation by a woman who was 18 years old at the time, but said the statute of limitations had expired in 2013. "An analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted, and the matter is declined," prosecutors said in a charge evaluation worksheet released to the media. They gave no details of the case, but Carter last year denied an allegation that he raped a teen pop singer 15 years ago. An attorney for Carter, whose band is currently playing a long-term engagement in Las Vegas, said in a statement on Tuesday that the singer was "happy to put the matter behind him." 인터넷바카라 "Nick has denied these allegations ever since he first learned of them last year," attorney Michael Holtz said in the statement. The Backstreet Boys were one of the biggest boy bands of the late 1990s and early 2000s, with hits like Quit Playing Games With My Heart. Accusations of sexual misconduct, inspired by the #MeToo social media movement, have forced multiple celebrities, politicians and businessmen to step down or be fired in the past year.

Is the "Apple slowing down older phones" a US thing? I ask because I have a 6s Plus, nearly 2 yrs old, and it does not seem slow to me. My kids use my old and battered 5s for games and YouTube, and while it is clearly slower than my 6s it is perfectly usable. Prior to this I used an old 4s, that to me remained perfectly fine until I upgraded. 인터넷바카라 Also, most of the people I know and work with have iPhones (a few even used a 3GS or whatever it was called, until about 6 months ago) and I have never heard any complaints of slow phones from them either. Yet forums and articles are full of slow iPhone stories. I hail from little Denmark, so I wonder if that’s anything to do with this discrepancy?

I'm usually not a fan of most of Apples products, but sometimes you have to take a step back and admire some of the results of the decisions they make. 카지노사이트주소 AirPods... Well IMO they look goofy as hell, and probably fall out of half the populations ears. However MKBHD said in his last video...more so proclaimed he sees them everywhere, and they are most likely the most popular wireless earbuds. Is he right? I don't know. Maybe. However, it is pretty easy to notice AirPods from any other BT earbud. They stand out.  Most earbuds are black little things nestled in your ears that don't stand out to a normal person in public. They all look alike. But...not AirPods. They are white little sticks coming out of your ears. They scream, "Notice Me." It is probably why they don't even come in a black colorway. 온라인바카라 I'm sure Apple did this on purpose, because guess what? Tech YouTubers saying they are the most popular thing ever, is just free advertising. It'sactually kind of genius. Me personally, I don't see them much over here in California. But I think many folks maybe too embarrassed to just wearing walking around, because they look crazy. But then again all BT headsets kind of do.

As a result of Jeff’s recent forum post on iMessage, I’ve been thinking a lot about iOS; more specifically, about its native applications. 인터넷카지노 My smartphone history consists of various different OSs and Phones [Palm Treo => iPhone 3G => Windows Phone(s) => Galaxy Note 5 => iPhone 7], so I’ve had a chance to try all of (what at the time was) the Big Three. In hindsight, my decision to leave any particular platform was fairly petty/short-sighted: I left Palm because I thought the iPhone was cooler I left the iPhone because I preferred Windows Phone’s (and/or Zune’s) design principles I left Windows Phone because I wanted Snapchat I left Android because of battery issues/how it managed background applications But there were only 2 reasons I switched back to an iPhone: Official battery case (a friend showed me his and I loved it) iMessage (a friend of mine is colorist AF and hates seeing green bubbles) 인터넷바카라 But aside from iMessage and the case, there is nothing that’s making me stick with iOS. I use a few of the other default apps (Phone, Weather, Clock, Photos, Camera, TestFlight*), but every platform has their own incarnation of those and I could survive without them. So my question to the forum is: what are the (other reasons) users stick with iOS? What applications do you prefer over the default iOS applications? And if you prefer certain iOS default apps, which ones and why are they better the competition offered in the App Store?
