Athlete Injury Representation - The Story of Jordan McNair

What Happened to Jordan McNair?

On June 13, 2018, 19-year-old Jordan McNair passed away as a result of heatstroke during a school football team workout two weeks prior. McNair's death shocked the entire community of UMD and sparked much controversy surrounding athlete injuries and a toxic athelete culture that is alive and well throughout the country. Now, Murphy, Falcon & Murphy is representing Jordan’s grieving family in a wrongful death lawsuit in Baltimore.

Who was Jordan McNair?

Jordan McNair was a 19-year-old starting freshman who was to redshirt for the University of Maryland Terrapins offensive lineman. McNair was known for his consistent positive attitude and "contageous smile." Friends of McNair described him as "humble" and a "gentle giant." He worked hard both on and off the field, making his University's honor roll as well as the UMD's football team.

It was clear to anyone who knew Jordan that he had a very bright future ahead of him. At just 19, he had already accomplished so much and was just hitting the surface. McNair's death is a tragedy that will change the way athlete safety and school liability will be looked at and evaluated.
